Ligia Booker, Founder of La Luz Center
Founded in 1985 by a small group of volunteers led by Ligia Booker, La Luz Center created a safe place for immigrants to go for help in emergencies and in building their new lives. Since its founding, La Luz has functioned as the primary resource in Sonoma Valley for disadvantaged families experiencing economic and social crises and seeking opportunities to become economically self-sufficient. Today La Luz Center is the “go to” place for our neighbors to get help in managing and improving their lives.
Our mission is to be a catalyst for change in Sonoma Valley through health, education and financial security. The vision is one Sonoma Valley community, working together, where all have equal opportunity to succeed. We focus our efforts on programs addressing Education, Health and Wellness and Financial Security.
